What we do
Your account manager, your tax preparer and our business relations team work from the same file. You tell your story once.
Federal and state returns, amended returns, extensions and ITIN applications. We check every credit and deduction, and we show you how to plan for next year.
Accounting for tax purposes: we reconcile your bank and card accounts, clean up your ledger and prepare the income statement and balance sheet your return needs. Books behind? We catch them up.
Corporations, S-corporations and partnerships, federal and state, with the K-1s sent to every partner. Sales tax filings on schedule. For payroll, we work with the best payroll companies in the country and refer you to the right one.
We form your LLC or corporation, get your EIN, file your annual reports, act as registered agent and record every change of ownership.
Foreign owners of U.S. companies, U.S. residents with companies or accounts abroad, newcomers in their first year. Extremely complex, and our specialty. See below.
We answer IRS and state notices and represent you in audits, collections and appeals. Crypto: detailed, demanding work, and our specialty. See below.
International taxation
A foreign owner of a U.S. company, a U.S. resident with a company or an account abroad, a family in its first year in the country: each case brings forms with severe penalties when they are missed or filed wrong. We have built deep experience in this work, and it is the work we want more of.
A U.S. LLC or corporation owned from abroad must file every year, even with no income. We keep it compliant, act as its registered agent and explain what the United States expects from you.
A company, a bank account or an investment in another country brings information returns with penalties that start at $10,000 each. We prepare them with your return, and we repair missed years.
Your first U.S. return, dual-status years, ITINs for the family, income from two countries and tax treaties. We plan the arrival year so that you do not pay twice.
Crypto taxation
Crypto is not a box to tick on a return. Each transaction must be found across exchanges and wallets, priced on its day, matched to its cost basis and reconciled with the forms the IRS now receives. We rebuild that history transaction by transaction, including years of records that other firms turned away.
Sales, coin-to-coin swaps and payments in crypto, across every exchange and wallet you used. Cost basis tracked wallet by wallet, as the IRS requires since 2025, and matched to your 1099-DA so you pay tax only on the real gain.
Staking, mining, airdrops, DeFi yield, NFTs and getting paid in crypto. Each reward is income at its value on the day you received it, and becomes cost basis for later. We report it on the right schedule, business or personal.
Years without records, closed exchanges, lost wallets, returns filed without the crypto. We reconstruct the history from exports and on-chain data, amend the years that need it and answer the IRS letters that follow.
Client portal
Every client gets a private portal. Send us documents, sign your return and pay your invoice without a trip to the office.
Why an Enrolled Agent
Igor Gomes, our Vision Officer, is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with an active license.
An Enrolled Agent is a tax professional authorized by the United States Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS. That authorization covers the different stages of the tax process, including audits, collections and appeals.
Enrolled Agents must also keep their tax education continuously up to date, by meeting annual professional education requirements.
When your life changes, when your business grows, or when a new decision brings tax consequences, you need more than basic software to prepare your taxes. You need someone who knows you, your business and the rules that apply to your situation.
That is where experience, knowledge and relationship make all the difference.
Our team
Write to any of us directly. If the person you need is not the right one, they will pass you to someone who is.

You may not need everything on this list. Bring what you have, or upload it to the portal before your appointment.

Questions
Both work. An appointment means no wait. You can also send your documents through the portal and we prepare your return without a visit.
Yes. We prepare it as soon as your documents arrive, and we file it electronically on the first day the IRS accepts returns.
The IRS issues most e-filed refunds within 21 days. Returns with certain credits, or returns the IRS selects for review, can take longer. The portal shows you when your return is accepted.
An extension (Form 4868) gives you six more months to file. It does not give you more time to pay. If you expect to owe, pay an estimate by the April deadline to limit penalties and interest.
It depends on your situation, so we look before we quote. After we review your documents, you get the price in writing before we start. Monthly bookkeeping clients have one agreement with a fixed monthly fee.
Sim. Sí. Our team speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish, and the client portal is available in all three languages.
Don’t ignore it, and don’t pay before we review it. Bring it or upload it to the portal. Igor Gomes, our Enrolled Agent, can respond to the IRS on your behalf.
Yes. We get your income records from the IRS, prepare the missing years and help you set up a payment plan if you owe. The sooner you start, the fewer penalties you pay.
Yes. Form 1040 asks every taxpayer about digital assets. Selling, trading one coin for another and paying with crypto are all taxable events. Moving coins between your own wallets is not.
Starting with sales in 2025, crypto brokers must report your gross proceeds to the IRS on Form 1099-DA. Cost basis reporting starts for coins bought in 2026 and later. We match the form to your records so you pay tax only on your real gain.
Yes. We rebuild your history from exchange exports and wallet addresses, find your cost basis and prepare Form 8949. We also fix prior years when they were reported wrong.
Yes. Rewards are income at their market value on the day you receive them. When you sell them later, you have a gain or loss on top of that.
Yes. A foreign-owned single-member LLC usually must file Form 5472 every year, even with no income. The penalty for a missed form starts at $25,000. We prepare it, keep your company in good standing and act as your registered agent.
If the total of your foreign accounts was more than $10,000 at any time in the year, you must file an FBAR (FinCEN Form 114). Some people must also file Form 8938 with their return. We check both for you.
Usually, yes. The IRS expects estimated payments on April 15, June 15, September 15 and January 15. We calculate the amounts so you avoid a surprise and an underpayment penalty.
Send us your bank and card statements. We catch up the books, prepare your return, and then keep them current each month so it doesn’t happen again.
We do not process payroll ourselves. We have relationships with the best payroll companies in the country, and we refer you to the one that fits your business. Their reports then feed your books and your tax return, so nothing is missed.
Keep tax returns and their records for at least three years. Some situations need six or seven years, and property and business asset records until you sell them. Ask us about your case.
Our story
When the answer is not within our reach right away, we go and find it. We study, we research and we do what it takes to find the best path.
Our promiseMy father, Marcos Gomes, was an accountant in Brazil. For more than 25 years he devoted his career to the audit of national and international banks.
In January 1994, our family moved to the United States. Like so many immigrants, we arrived with dreams, challenges and the will to build a new life. We soon saw a need inside our own community: many people needed guidance to understand the American tax and business system, but they could not find anyone to explain it in a clear, close and trustworthy way.
That is how we began. First, we specialized. Then, we started to share that knowledge with other people.
What was born from a need in our community became a purpose that remains today: to help people and businesses take their first steps, and to move forward with confidence, in a system that can often seem complex.
That is where our slogan came from: It all starts here. Because we believe that every great project begins with a decision, an idea, a dream. It may be the opening of a new business, the organization of your books, the peace of mind of keeping your taxes in order, or simply having someone at your side to guide you along the way.
Genesis Tax House. It all starts here. And we are here to help you build what comes next.
